Easy Lane is a parking information tool for New Orleans. This policy covers the New Orleans service; if the app expands to other cities we will update it.
What we collect
When you search an address or share your location, we record the coordinates and the address, along with which parking rules we checked and what we showed you. We do this to find out whether the answers are any good. If you send feedback on a block, we store your note. If you photograph a street sign, we store the photograph — see below.
How we identify you
We do not require an account and we do not set advertising cookies. To count repeat visits we derive a one-way hash from your IP address and browser user agent on the server. We never store the raw IP address.
Location
Location is requested only when you tap to use it, and it is only used to answer the search in front of you. You can decline and enter an address instead. When you open a block, its coordinates and address appear in the page URL, so anything you share or bookmark carries that location.
Photographs of street signs
If you submit a photograph of curb signage, we store the image, the coordinates you were at when you took it, and the accuracy your device reported. Your phone's location is used explicitly: we strip EXIF metadata from the image before upload, so the photo itself carries no hidden location. A photograph of a public street can capture licence plates, faces and house numbers. Submitted photographs are visible only to Easy Lane staff and are not shown to other users or shared with partners. We keep them for as long as the rule they support is in use, because the photograph is the evidence for what the app tells people. Write to us if you want one removed.
Sharing
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. The map background is served by CARTO, which receives your IP address when map tiles load; CARTO renders OpenStreetMap map data, credited on the map itself. Address lookups use City of New Orleans open data.
Accuracy
Easy Lane reports curb rules from public city data. It cannot see every rule, it is not legal advice, and it is not a guarantee that you will not be ticketed or towed. Read the signs at the curb.
